Crane Shot--In Color

It's hard to imagine a time when a television series broadcast in color was a big deal. Around 1966, ABC created short bumpers that aired before their color shows, trumpeting the fact that they were "in color!" BATMAN and, I'm pretty sure, THE GREEN HORNET had them, but they aren't presented here. This short clip represents THE FUGITIVE, THE TIME TUNNEL, VOYAGE TO THE BOTTOM OF THE SEA, THE INVADERS and THE FBI...in color!

These aired for all ABC series during the 1966-67 season starting the first week of September 1966. ABC tried to get the jump on the "big two" by rolling their fall premieres out a week early that year.

The BATMAN and F TROOP bumpers I remember seeing in syndication during the 1970s and early 1980s locally on KTVT Channel 11, which miraculously used to air some syndicated shows without edits. I know this because I have a few episodes of the latter on tape from KTVT that are 25:30 in length, same as on the DVD (Season one). Unfortunately the bumpers aren't included on the season two DVD.
